Used bike video review: KTM 990 Super Duke vs Aprilia Tuono from Fire It Up
We do sort of go on about new motorcycles on this site and on The Bike Show TV, whereas the biggest market for motorcycles is in the used sector, and no one sells more used motorcycles (or any motorcycles for that matter) than Fire It Up in Fourways.
Mat and Harry grabbed a cameraman and went to see what’s on offer. There are a few hundred motorcycles on the showroom, but Mat and Harry are naked superbike fans, and were drawn towards a rather attractive 2008 Aprilia Tuono and a 2012 KTM 990 Super Duke R. The Aprilia had 11,000 km on the clock while the KTM had 19,000, meaning they were only just run in. Both were in an excellent condition and both were on sale for R65,000. For that money, you can buy only a small-ish commuter from the new market.
More so, from places like Fire It Up, you get a used bike that has had a thorough once-over in the workshop, and you get the option of all sorts of warranties and guarantees. This does make a used bike rather attractive, but let’s see what Mat and Harry said of their choices:
