Details and video: Simon Fourie Classic Auction
Tomorrow, 8 July 2018, Hartbeespoort Holiday Resort
As we reported previously, Simon Fourie will be auctioning off is famous classic motorcycle collection tomorrow, 8 July 2018, at the Hartbeespoort Holiday Resort, the same venue that hosts the Impala Rally, the Blikies Fees, the Pretoria Toy Run and will host the Revived Rhino Rally this year.
So far, there has been a huge response, with interest from many a collector around the country, plus queries from America, Germany, Dubai and Japan. Whether wanting to make bids or not, it should be a very good party.
The collection consists of around 200 different motorcycles, mostly Japanese and mostly from between 1960 and 1970, although there are also some models from the 70s, such as an original two-stroke Kawasaki H2, a Kawasaki Mach 3, a CBX1000 six cylinder and two original Honda Goldwings.
There are also some non-Japanese bikes including some BMWs such as an R50 with a rare Steib sidecar, and an incomplete Harley-Davidson off-road bike built by Aermacchi.
Apart from the motorcycles, there is also a host of tanks, engines, exhausts, frames, wheels and fenders, plus 157 boxes full of spares.
The day starts at 9am and the auctioning closes at 3:30 that afternoon. It will be a slow auction, meaning each motorcycle, item or batch will have a board with lines, and each bidder writes their offer on the board. When bidding closes at 3:30, the highest bid on the form takes the item.
Winning bidders will be contacted on Monday, and once money has been paid, they can come collect their goods.
On the day there will also be a social tent with chairs, a bar and food for sale.
Below is a video Simon and Donovan put together showing how everything is going to work, showing some of the items and giving more explanations.
