Launch of Scrambler 1100 and 959 Corse at Ducati Cape Town today
Ducati Cape Town will be hosting the South African debut of the new Scrambler 1100 and the Panigale 959 Corse. This will take place at their store at Shop Three in the V&A Waterfront today, 19 May, any time between 8:30 and 13:30. Any body is welcome to attend.
The Scrambler 1100 is the big daddy of the 400 and 800 versions of the Scrambler, featuring a rendition of the 1100cc, air-cooled. two-valved, 90º V-twin seen in the likes of the Hypermotard 1100 and the Monster 1100. Donovan Fourie attended the World Launch of this model in Lisbon, Portugal, earlier in the year and was duly impressed: “It’s a bigger, badder version of the Scrambler 400 and 800, and yet it still maintains that endearing quality of likeability, easy-goingness and fun the Scrambler family has become famous for. The chassis is bigger than its smaller siblings, but still not big, being easy enough to zip around on while displaying a demeanour of macho bravado. The motor makes most of its power and torque between 6,000 rpm and idle, meaning riding it is a doddle.”

Also at Ducati Cape Town today is the Corse version of the Ducati Panigale 959, which features an array of extra go fast bits including a special spray job, Ohlins NIX30 43mm forks, an Ohlins TTX36 shock, an adjustable steering damper, an akrapovic exhaust and a lighter lithium-ion battery.
Next weekend sees these models make their Johannesburg debut at Kyalami for the South Africa Bike Festival between Friday 25 May and Sundar 27 May. Tickets are available from www.southafricabikefestival.com.
