KTM to host Adventure Rider Rally

31 August to 3 September, Champagne Resort

The name KTM is increasingly losing its “plastic bikes only” status and showing a tenacity in the world of street legal motorcycle that is leaving some of the older brands going “oh”. Indeed, KTM is the largest European manufacturer, and also the third best selling motorcycle brand overall in South Africa, and much of that is down to their now especially formidable adventure range.

To celebrate, they are hosting an adventure rally for three days between 3 August and 3 September at the Champagne Sports Resort, around 45 km from Bergville, at the base of the famous Giant’s Castle Game Reserve that is the most spectacular part of the Drakensberg reserve. Put it this way – one side of the resort can see nothing but a wall of mountain scaling, in places, more than 3000m.

There will be two days of riding with various skill level routes, ranging from green (Easy) to black (More technical) with lunch spots en route. At the resort there will be a massive hall with bike displays and various product demonstrations.

Ballyhoo, the band famous for such hits as Man On The Moon, will be performing live on Friday and Saturday night, which should be excellent.

There will also be some interesting celebs in attendance, such as Alfie Cox (Dakar legend and Red Bull athlete), Joey Evans (2017 Dakar finisher), Ross Branch (2016 and 2017 OR1 Off-Road champion and 2019 Dakar competitor), Darryl Curtis (Dakar and extreme Enduro legend) and international star Giovanni Sala (Six time world Enduro champion and Dakar legend) to ride with the 210+ KTM customers and dealers.

All riders of KTM adventure bikes are welcome. Entry is R 7400.00 for single and R 4900.00 per person sharing, which includes accommodation, all meals and an event goody bag.
